big problem with sql server 2000 msde sp 4 (stops working by accident)

Hi,
I get the following error-message from sqlserver 2000 (msde edition)
I have no idea what is going wrong.
I was only able to get back to working state by
DBCC CHECKDB ALLOW-DATA-LOSS
(or restoring a backup)
But i do not want the db to crash at my customers ...
In the knowledge-base I found:
"An assertion or Msg 7987 may occur when an operation is performed on an
instance of SQL Server"
without any reason why inconsitencies can occur
This bug is at least known since 5th april 2005 ... and still known for
sql-server 9 (2005 I think)
I hope I oversaw something ... or does SQLServer realy stops to work by
chance?
please help!

No, SQL Server does not "stop working by accident". Most likely you
have flaky hardware that is causing corruption in your database file.

well ... are there any chance to find someting to help find the problem
in the log files of the server (or in the dumps) ?

Doesn't have to be an I/O problem - it could be bad RAM, a bad CPU, any
number of things. You should run some hardware diagnostics on the
machine, perhaps even open an incident with Microsoft - they can help
you decipher the logs.

Best way to store information

Hi,

I am using MSDE in my applications. Sometime the tables are large and it takes a time for reading the data by query.

1. If I split the tables it can help me? or not?
2. May be exist another way to read the data?

My application wrote in C# (dot.Net 1.1) using ADO (SQLClient).

there are a lot of things u can do to reduce the time taken...eg..tune ur queries, create indexes on tables..etc... but comming to ur specific questions
1. spliting the tables...
as ur using sql server 2000 msde , horizontal partition is not too well supported..and it helps most if u keep the partitions on different drives , having seperate headers.....this article gives some info

2. other ways...as i said earlier there r a lot of things u can do...identify the bottelnecks and then work towards improving them...|||

Can you present the queries that are giving you problems? Please include some short example data and a brief listing of the composition of the target table in question. It is easier if we know the target problem.

You are seriously going to have to give way more information for anyone to answer this question.

You state you are using MSDE, is this as a server? How many users? If you have > 8 simultaneous queries it will start to punish you and seriously degrate performance.

And what do you mean large? Can you post table creations, some sample data, and most importantly, how many rows you have? It might be indexing, it could be poorly written queries, it could be a server/ram issue, but without the table create scripts, it would all be an uneducated guess...

Best way to insert data to MSDE db

Hello.
I'm creating a stand-alone windows application using the MSDE server.
Performance issues in this application are big-deal to my client.
I need to insert data to the database in rate of – 2MB / sec.
Each insert action should insert ~ 10-40 MB to the database.
My questions are:
1. What is the fastest way to INSERT data to the database? Using insert from
c# code, scripts, stored procedure, other?
2. What is the fastest way to retrieve information from the database?

nope... the fastest insert method is BULK INSERT (via BULK INSERT statement
or BCP.exe) that can even advantage from combined CPUs... and using BULK
LOGGED recovery model will help ...

data retrival is demanded to SELECT statements, and you have non other
ways.. you can optimize your index design to make the application works
better, you can even over-index your structure, but this will slow down
insertions..

sending them as-is to the database, insetd of parsing them to insert command,
will be, I think,a fast way. What do you think?

unfortunately BULK operations only supports flat data format and not
structured formatted data... you can use CSV, native SQL Server exported
data via BCP and so on, but not data from xml files and the like...
BULK operations accept a (txt) file to be imported, as described in
