Binary (Image) in SSAS

I have an Image column in my database nicely imported by SSIS. I want to use these (product) images in my reports. These reports use a SSAS cube as source.

However, I'm unable to use this column as an attribute of my dimension. I get the error:
The 'Binary' data type is not allowed for the 'KeyColumns' property #0

I know there are alternatives like only storing the location of the file and using the url to get it, but that's not an option for me.

Thank you very much!Still nobody who can awnser this? |||

Look in the Adventure Works sample cubes in the Product dimension. They've got the logo image in there. The trick is to put an int ID as the KeyColumn and use the image datatype as the MemberValue.

BIDev Studio Merging 2 SSIS packages in to one

Hi,

I am new to the product and have set up an intergration service comprising of two seperate ssis packages. At present as far as i know I have to execute them one at a time. Is there any way of performing a single execute to run them both or alternatively merging them into a single package.

Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

Chris

Chris, there is an "Execute Package" task in SSIS that should do the trick for you... Just place two on the control flow and point to the packages you currently have.

You could also merge them into one package, but I have not tried to copy/paste tasks/flows from one package into another...

Thanks Dan

The Execute Package works a treat.

BI Example for SQL Server 2005

Hi all,

I'm trying to find an example on BI using SQL Server 2005. Ideally something that would allow me to analyze Customer and Product information like Sales per period, per product line, etc. Something really really standard that the user could query directly from Excel 2003.

I'm sure such simple example exists, I'm looking for the DB schema, cubes, dimensions already setup in SQL 2005. My question is if the are scripts available so my only task would be to import our ERP data into SQL and make sure it gets processed.

I'm not interested in really fancy stuff SQL can deliver, just something that is easy to start with and build on.

I'd appreciate it if you can point me to any direction...

Thanks,

ST

Better way to solve my RS problem...

Hello all,
I have a sales table with the following columns:
Product
Date
Price
SalesAmount
Quantity
I need to write a report in Rs that has the following information:
Products sold in a month and during the year...
Currently I use a sub report with different date parameters ie date between
1/1/04 and 1/1/05 for The year sold data, and Date = @.Month for the month
sales.
However, sub-reports seem to slow the report down significantly. Is there a
better way to do this using only one report?
Thanks,
ClintTake a look at the [Employee Sales Summary.rdl] sample report that ships
with the product.

However, I need one table, this solution seems to require multiple
tables/charts.
Any other way?

summarize by year, month. Then in Report Services you adding a grouping for
year and a grouping for month. You want the month grouping to be hidden and
based on the year. Then if they click on the year it expands and you get the
month. If the group header for the year you put in a sum expression for the
year total shows in the heading. Hope that makes sense you you.

Reporting Services, is good example of using drilldown.
